What about that BP ?

Now don’t get me started on America’s big oil pollution story, those Bloody Polluters. Perception is everything of course, but this is the reality. A British company - yes, but staffed by Americans in American waters, contracting an American drilling company, staffed by Americans making American oil drilling mistakes. Yes, mistakes from cost-cutting, and we all know what cost-cutting means don’t we boys and girls, more profit - the ultimate American lubricant. Endless repetition of the former name….are you all listening….the former name “British Petroleum”. The President looking for asses to kick, ah, this must be why they call it the “special relationship”!

BP, bringing oil to American shores, literally! When the health nuts say avoid skin cancer by oiling up on the beach, I don’t think this was their intention! Just goes to show, oil and water don’t mix.

Well, you can rest assured that the other oil majors are browning their shorts and saying “there but for the grace of God we go” because we sure as hell know that they wouldn’t have been any more prepared. Oh yes, they’ll make the right noises in Congress, in the hearings, and there’s nothing more than a good public spanking to inflame righteous senators and congressional hearings. Swear them in, grandstand with convoluted questions, show the voters we’re on top of it and then it’s back to the trough for more pork!

Unfortunately it gets worse, I recently read that the authorities, yes the same ones that speedily approved BP’s Gulf plans at an indecent pace, have approved BP plans for drilling off the North Slope of Alaska. Apparently this project has been excluded from the Administration’s current ban on off-shore drilling because, and I can hardly believe this, BP constructed a man-made island three miles off the coast and therefore this counts as Onshore drilling, Yes, I know, Onshore drilling not Offshore. The fox is really in charge of the henhouse now. The lunatics are in charge of the asylum.
